Kings fend off Coyotes to Capture 12U Championship!

By Tom Bilek, 12/12/18, 10:00AM PST

The 2018 fall 12U division was super fun this season. The division had a lot of new players, new jerseys, our first ever all girls team  (Hericanes) and a ton of some exciting competitive hockey. The playoffs didn't disappoint either.

In the 12U wild card game the 5th seeded Ducks rolled to their first win on the rink (won by forfeit too) 6-2 over the Avalanche. Credit the team and coaches for staying positive, improving each practice and game and putting it all together at the right time.

The semifinals began with 2nd seeded Coyotes holding off the Hericanes 3-1. Kamryn Cox was a wall in net all season for the Coyotes and especially in this game. She proved to everyone in the division that our lady hockey players are pretty darn good on both teams. In the 2nd semifinal the pesky Ducks and their improved play hung in their for a while until the top seeded Kings pulled away to win 5-2.

It doesn't always happen but the best 2 teams in the regular season met in the finals and the Kings were probably a little bit better in the regular season and they were a little bit better in the final capturing the title 2-1.

Great job by all of the players and coaches this season. We should see most of them soon in the upcoming 2019 Middle School Season!
